north island | south island | auckland | outward flight | my car
I travelled from the 23rd of March to the 2nd of April around the South Island of New Zealand.
Day I: (Wellington)
I started form Auckland with my car to an 8 hours drive down to Wellington. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand but not as big as Auckland. Only 370.000 people life there. The city has a beautiful skyline and cool bars and restaurants on the waterfront.

Day II: (Nelson)
With an awesome ferry trip between the north and the south island began the second day. It's on of the most beautiful ferry trips in the world. After more than 3 hours on the ferry I arrived in Picton. From Picton I drove to Nelson, where I stayed for a night. Nelson has beautiful beaches and a warm climate.

Day III: (Glaciers)
Now, it was time to go to the mountains of New Zealand. On the third day I was on a glacier called Franz Josef. The German discoverer Julius von Haast called the glacier Franz Josef. The glacier is only 200 meter above sea lev

Day IV: (Queenstown)
On the morning I was on Fox glacier. After that I drove to Queenstown. An awesome city on lake Wakatipu. Queenstown has countless bars and cafes. I slept on a holiday park near the skyline gondola of Bob's Peak.

Day V: (Mt. Cook)
The highest mountain in New Zealand is called Mt. Cook (3754 m). This mountain is located in the Mount Cook National Park. It's an amazing mountain and a beautiful part of New Zealand.

Day VI: (Akaroa)
The only day with bad weather was in Akaroa a very popular holiday place for New Zealanders.

Day VII to IX: (Christchurch)
The "most English" city in New Zealand is called Christchurch and also the biggest city of the South Island. I stayed here for 3 days. Christchurch is an awesome city with a beautiful botanic garden and a lot of museums.

Day X: (Picton)
On the way back to Picton, I stopped in Kaikoura, where you can see seals on the rocks. The road from Christchurch to Picton is on of the most beautiful roads. On the left site the mountains and on the right site the ocean. Great!!!

Day XI: (Wellington)
After I stayed one more day in Wellington I drove back to Auckland...
